Bubbles

I was in the shower a few nights ago enjoying my few minutes of non mommy activities and while lathering up an enormous bubble (the size of my head) formed on my arm. I was immediately taken back to childhood.

My Mom used to take baths with us and we would make soap bubbles. She taught my sister and I how to lather up our hands really good and make a bubble blower out of our hand. We would spend so much time making bubbles that way. Then as we got older we would see who could make the biggest and it became a competition. I love that memory and hadn't thought about it in years. It was such a simple thing that she did with us and yet...one of my favorite times in life. It seemed so easy then. All of it not just the bubble blowing. She loved me and my sister and that was really all we needed.

I have this picture of my mom that I took when I was in college of her blowing bubbles and it always makes me smile. She's trying to look at the bubble as it is being blown and her eyes are a bit crossed but she's got the excitement of a child...Bubbles! Even to adults they are a simple pleasure.
