Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks!

I have been absolutely obsessed with reading and scanning blogs lately.  I feel like I'm learning all sorts of new things and don't even know where I want to begin on trying these new tricks.  Today however I saw something I could try without leaving my comfy spot on the couch while the squildlet played nicely with the pup pup and toys.

Rebecca Cooper's blog is one I follow regularly. I love her style of photography and she inspires me to get my camera out just for fun now instead of only for WORK!

Using the technique in the link above I took a picture of my sweet girl from this...

It's a great way to layer texture onto your photo.  I first used a sepia photo filter.  Then using a lighting affect called spot light I highlighted her face.

In a separate document I opened this...

One of the many patterns I have found online.  This happens to be a fabric print.  I just saved the image and use it as backgrounds for different projects.  I've never used it just the way it is and today was no exception.  I love the big graphic pattern of the flowers.  I also love the white highlighting.

Once it's dragged on top of my original photo I was able to change the opacity of the image.  It added texture and great shape.

Then I just erased the image from where my sweet girl's face and shirt were and ended with my finished picture.  All in all it took me less than 15 mins and I'm sure the next time will be faster.

Thanks to these wonderfully talented women I'm learning new things everyday!!!
